Established in 1998 in OH – Founded in the name of Edward J. DeBartolo, Sr. by his son, Edward J. DeBartolo, Jr. and his daughter, Marie Denise DeBartolo-York. Edward J. DeBartolo, Sr. was a successful real estate developer and businessman who is widely regarded as the father of the American shopping mall. In 1977, Mr. DeBartolo purchased the San Francisco 49ers, later giving the team to his son Edward, Jr. (now a former owner of the team.) Marie Denise DeBartolo-York is a former owner of the 49ers and is currently Co-Chair. She presided over the Pittsburgh Penguins hockey team from 1990–1991.
