SMART Mobility Enterprize (the “MobiPrize”) is an award honoring entrepreneurial ventures that are changing the world – helping to improve the quality of life and revitalize the environment and economy of communities and regions through sustainable transportation (New Mobility).
In 2012: It was conceived and developed by the University of Michigan SMART initiative and its diverse local and international partners with the generous support of the Rockefeller Foundation. It was presented to three winners on a world stage at Rio + 20 in Brazil.
In 2013: SMART MobiPrize joined forces with the OECD’s International Transport Forum and supported the OECD’s International Transport Forum Transportation Achievement Award that was presented in Leipzig, Germany at their Annual Summit.
In 2014: SMART MobiPrize partnered with the 21st ITS World Congress in Detroit, Michigan to award prizes in 3 distinct categories: The Grand Mobi Prize for best overall applicant; the Michigan Mobi for best innovation in the state of Michigan; and the Enterprising City/State Award, awarded to the local/state government that best enabled New Mobility entrepreneurship within their jurisdictions.
