According to the Harvard College Handbook for Students, students of the sophomore, junior, and senior classes in the top 5% of their respective classes will be designated John Harvard Scholars, based on the grade point average of the previous academic year. Students of the sophomore, junior, and senior classes in the top 10% of their respective classes who are not designated John Harvard Scholars will be designated Harvard College Scholars.
The GPA cutoff for these honorary scholarships are as follows:
John Harvard GPA Cutoffs:
- Rising Sophomores: 4.000
- Rising Juniors: 4.000
- Rising Seniors: 4.000
Harvard College GPA Cutoffs:
- Rising Sophomores: 3.593
- Rising Juniors: 3.953
- Rising Seniors: 3.963
