Programs and Services
liftUPlift Worldwide was founded by Corielle Laaspere, Rachel Jones and Cynthia Heath in 2015. We spent most of our first year conducting hundreds of enlightening interviews with survivors, advocates, police, and other stakeholders who share our mission. There are a sea of resources and initiatives dedicated to tackling violence against women, so our goal was simple: identify what’s working and what’s not.
We ultimately focused our activities on empowering individual survivors and allies to speak up and take action to prevent sexual violence in their communities.
Our Bystander Intervention Trainings empower good people at the grassroots to identify early warnings signs of sexual violence and act effectively to intervene and prevent assaults before they occur.
What makes Bystander Intervention training different from previous approaches to sexual assault prevention?
- Discourages victim blaming
- Offers individuals the chance to change social norms
- Shifts responsibility to both men and women
Our Break the Silence initiative provides a forum for survivors to share their stories in order to heal and expose the full impact of sexual and domestic violence.
