America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, engages future generations in agriculture by raising awareness of the diverse career opportunities in the industry and by providing $1,500 scholarships that enable students to further their education.

The program was created in response to farmer requests to keep rural youth involved in agriculture. Farmers can participate in the program by encouraging students in their community to apply for a scholarship and by endorsing their application. Because farmers play a crucial role in the industry, each applicant needs to obtain endorsements from at least three local farmers. The program is administered by the National FFA Scholarship Program, but FFA membership is not required.

In 2014, Grow Ag Leaders was piloted in six states, providing more than $100,000 worth of scholarships. Due to the success of the pilot, the program expanded to 40 states in 2015, with a total of more than $500,000 awarded. In 2017, Monsanto Fund and Grow Ag Leaders will again award more than $500,000 in scholarships. The application opens November 15 and ends February 1 at 5 pm EST.
